The volume is principally concerned with medieval art, and the various phenomena of medievalism observed after 1945 in Central Europe. The authors emphasise the problems of creative adaptations, programmatic redefinitions, nationalist appropriation and ideological re-evaluations.
The issue also presents an analysis of arcaded architecture based on diverse research methods, a study of Michel Sittow's paintings and a study on the transformation of the interiors of reconstructed and re-gothicized churches in Poland.
